Long Time No Blog!

Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates around these parts. Mum's been in hospital, and over Christmas/New Year I did a lot of baking/cooking/sewing...ie things that do not allow me to sit and dry for long periods of time!!

I just checked the stats for this blog, and realised that I've had over 6000 views since I started it, so firstly WOW, secondly THANK YOU,  and thirdly I'd better get my @$$ in gear and update more often!

BarryM (#295 Pure Turquoise) with OPI (NL E62 Silver Shatter Ltd. Ed. Pirates of the Caribbean series).

The design doesn't come across so well on the photos, but in real life I'm pretty pleased with it!

Purple Glitter: W7, Black liner: KISS.

I made the effort (ish!) for Halloween. :)

We're now into Craft Season, which means sadly nails always fall by the wayside in favour of stitching, cooking, sticking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and cooking.

If you get bored of the lack of nail updates, head over to my new blog Squeakret Squirrel to see what's taking up all of my nail-doing time these days. I WILL still be updating Y Nails when I have new designs to show off, but for the moment my home-made Christmas is taking priority!

OPI manicure, with generic holographic chunky glitter top coat, and Nails Inc. "New York"  (Diet Coke Ltd. Ed.) tip on ring finger, with graduating pink crystals.

I was lucky enough to get a manicure for my day as a bridesmaid, so I decided when it was a few days old that I would spin it out for a little bit longer with a glitter top coat and a touch of pink.

I like it so much I might actually do it again!

Ok, these are rough pre-clean-up shots,  but I just had to share incase anything smudges when I top coat! :S

For this design I used: Nails Inc. - Aspen (metallic red), Barry M (metallic green, and yellow), GOSH (metallic gold), KISS black and white stripers. I used so little of the blue (and it was a bit old and crap too) so that's not important. Just use a generic blue.

Now, the only colours I used the striper brushes for were black and white. For other detail work, I use butchered kids paintbrushes, that I cut to size with scissors. Brushes can't be cleaned after this, they fall apart, so use them for everything that you can in each sitting. If you want a larger dotting tool (as I did), you can also use the other end of the paintbrush.

The AWESOME tutorial for the King of Hearts (AKA, how to do it properly!) can be found here:

Right, confession: I did not place each stone by hand. Rather, I am smarter than that, bought some crystal body tattoos, quartered them, and used them. No real tech-spec here, bog-standard white polish, and then tattoos.
